Connecting with God is not about religion, empty ritual, or mindless ceremony. Connecting with God is all about a relationship -- walking and talking with the God who created you!

Q&A for Connecting with God

  • I’ve not been good enough to know God. What hope do I have?

God is good! He has provided the way to connect with Him. It is a gift from Him, not based on our own works. Salvation – the way to a relationship with God – is by grace, through faith alone, not by works.

The Bible tells us in Ephesians 2:8-9, God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

  • I’m not a bad person, so I should be okay coming to Him in my own way, right?

The Bible tells us in Romans 3:10, As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. And Romans 3:23 says, For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.Everyone has sinned in the eyes of God, and all of us stand guilty before Him. Actually, just think how ridiculous it would be to stand before a perfectly holy God and say “I’ve been good enough.”

  • Are there consequences for my sin?

Romans 6:23 tells us, For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Eternal spiritual death is the price we must pay for sin. What is sin? Sin is simply this – disobedience to the will of God. And since all have sinned, all are subject to the penalty of sin and an eternity in hell separated from God.

  • How do I start a relationship with God through Jesus?

First, you must admit that you’re a sinner. Then, you must choose to accept God’s way of salvation, His Son, Jesus Christ.

Romans 10:9-10 tells us If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

A simple sincere prayer is the way we initiate our connection with God. Just tie your heart around these words and pray:

Father God in Heaven, I thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ. I recognize that I have sinned. I declare here and now Jesus is the Lord of my life. I choose to do things Your way. I believe He died on the cross and was raised from the dead to pay the penalty for my sin.Jesus, thank you for paying the price to save me and give me eternal life. I invite You into my heart, into my life. I ask you to change me on the inside. Help me to live this life in a way that will honor You. In Jesus name, Amen.

  • Can I do anything to make up for the sin in my life?

No, although a lot of people try to!God has provided a remedy for our situation by sending His Son to pay the penalty for us. John 3:16 tells us For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. What a promise! And Romans 5:8 says, But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. He did not wait for mankind to “get it together.” His son, Jesus, gave up His life as a sacrifice while we were separated from Him.Jesus tells us in John 14:6, Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
